With the introduction of Baosteel final bidding price, ferrochromium prices have stabilized, but remaining sluggish with poor transactions. As for the latter trend, the market has mixed views. Currently, high-carbon ferrochrome market mainstream price is 9200-9600 yuan / mt, while low-carbon ferrochrome (C25) mainstream price is 14400-15000 yuan / ton.

    Some manufacturers in the industry said that although nickel market went weak, and stainless steel market is thin, with current ferrochrome transactions blocked and prices falling, the market outlook is still optimistic. At present international ferrochrome prices remain firm, and South African ferrochrome market strike also have some influence to ferrochromium market, coupled with India's power shortage, at the same time Turkish Il Group will not sell chrome ore to China the second half of 2010. These factors will influence China ferrochrome imports which will be support to domestic ferrochrome market. Moreover, domestic major steel plant tender prices are basically consistent with last month, without significant decline, which has also had a favorable effect to ferrochromium market. In this respect, domestic ferrochrome market is comparatively optimistic.

    Other market participants, especially some large steel plants, said that the market outlook is not promising. In their opinion, although international ferrochrome prices are firm,  downstream demand is very limited. Moreover, current London nickel market and stainless steel market has not been much better. It’s learned that orders for next month received by ferrochromium manufacturers are not ideal until now. In addition, the pressure of national policy, and current loose price of chrome ore market make them worry about aftermarket. To them, domestic ferrochrome market is no so optimistic.
